MICHAELA GROEBLACHER
As humanity is preparing to leave this planet in search for ‘greener pastures’ the question for me remains: Who Are You,
Human?Scratching but the surface, we are still talking about skin color; we are still searching for a cure; we still fight over
nature; we still abuse our children; women are still not equal to men; we still do not ‘believe’ in evolution....
Science is all tangled in the maize of human egos. Maybe we will not have to solve these issues once we discovered a new
place to exist?Until then I keep looking into people’s faces, trying to find answers. Art un-wraps images of the world which
have been seen by the eyes of the artist’s soul, thus allowing a new world to appear. Any creation is subjective. However, the
viewer is invited to awaken the universal quality in my work. My thoughts, feelings and philosophy are not exclusive; the
expression might be unique.
Seemingly, I have the need to center myself by exploring the identity of others. My unwavering curiosity on the human psyche
paired with my investigative eye and an acceptance – or even relish – for eccentricity are the driving forces behind my work.
By forming the wet clay, adding and subtracting, I am uncovering the other person’s soul, while at the same time ascertaining
myself. In creating three-dimensional canvasses and subsequently painting them, I satisfy my artistic hunger on multiple levels:
my work is as much about the human psyche and perception as it is about color, composition and form.
